We have received numerous inquiries from both students seeking help and volunteers ready to generously offer their time. In the spirit of transparency, we would like to share an update regarding our launch status.

Our comprehensive programs have been thoughtfully crafted, and we are excited to make a meaningful impact in the lives of NYC youth! We are in the process of securing the necessary resources to launch our programs and aim to start serving our communities and students in the upcoming months.

Who we are

Lumina is a nonprofit organization devoted to the success of NYC youth by providing free one-on-one online tutoring & mentoring programs.

Students are paired with one of our dedicated volunteers for individualized tutoring and mentoring.

Our Programs

Core Tutoring

Our Core Tutoring program provides free one-on-one online tutoring & mentoring for NYC school children in grades 1-12.
Students are matched with a volunteer tutor and meet remotely for one hour each week at a mutually agreeable time. Our volunteers are able to help with homework, reading and skill building.
Math Lab

Math Lab provides our high school students with the support they need to build math skills.
Our Math Lab volunteers provide focused assistance in topics such as geometry, algebra, trigonometry & calculus.
College Bound

Geared towards prospective first-generation college students, our College Bound programs matches high school students with mentors who can assist with making informed choices about college, discuss future goals and guide students through the college application process.
Summer Scholars

A continuation of our Core Tutoring program, Summer Scholars offers online tutoring during July and August.
Focused on strengthening skills, our volunteer tutors work to ensure that students are prepared for the fall semester.
